This week in our workshop we have been learning to predict by the cover, the blurb on the back of the book or the pictures what's around the book. We had to write four predictions about what we can see. This is my work
Have you done a prediction before?

What is are driving question.
This term our driving question is what will the future hold for us? The first thing we did we got in groups of 4 and we made a mind map and we put down what we think is the biggest problems. after that we all gatherd down onto the mat and then we said our ideas to the hub the main idea's were:
pollution,
-Terrorism
-Discrimination
-Diseases
-Obesity
-Climate change
And those were just some of them. what we have been doing is a big probblem and you will be seeing a blog that will be telling you about how we can stop it.

Speech
This week we had to do a speech on discrimination so I chose Elitism. This is my speech and have a read and see what you think.
Do you know what Elitism is? Well elitism is when a small group of people think they are better than others because they are richer or more educated or more powerful and then they have an advantage over everyone else.
We know enough about our past to be able to say that most cities in the world have elitism.
Elitism can happen in the workplace, in sports or anywhere really. But now I will be talking about Elitism in the workplace like men getting a higher pay than women or even in job interview and how if your not rich your not good enough. I know this sounds a bit like sexism but the two sort crossover.
The more I have learnt about Elitism I realise just how big it is and how it happens in our everyday life.writing this speech has been really interesting I have learnt so much like some stories that I have read stories. In politics if you had or have an family member who’s done politic you have a higher chance to get in because they would know the finely and think they will be the exact same, it makes it so unfair and just wrong. Well i was looking for other story’s I found this one, 2 people were hired for a job on the same day one has been to uni and got his masters the other person hasn’t been to uni but has all the skill and experience to do the job. The manager went to the same uni as the guy with the masters and later promoted him because he believed this guy was better than the one who could do the job just as well, just because they went to the same uni.
With the sporting side What I find most annoying thing is golf a person from New Zealand about a month ago won a golf tournament and didn’t get anything because he was a rookie and 3rd place wasn’t so he got the money. Our world has came a long way but still has lots of problems like elitism, without noticing it can come a long way to too putting someone off or even make them uncomfortable in what they are doing like trying to prove they are better than them in sports or trying to prove them self in a group. It can go so far without you knowing it,sometimes it can lead up to hurting someone so they will respect you. You know the saying money doesn't make you happy, that bull can I get a show of hands who here would be happy winner the lotto be honest they made that so Elitism would stop a bit but it is a lie money does make you happy. It’s sad to say but my speech sadly has to come to an end.

What our PBL is about
This term our driving question is how can we speak up to discrimination so we have been talking about what make up discrimination so far we have talked about sexism and human rights. there are lots of types of discrimination like sexism, racism, favouritism, elitism, religious and lots more this term we will have to do a speech and choose what discrimination to do in our pod cast, drama, Ted talk or poetry slam.
